Singer/songwriter Haylee Slaughter, aged 38 is from Oxford, Florida. A classically-trained pianist from age four, she taught herself how to play guitar at thirteen and has dabbled in the mandolin and harmonica. Her songwriting took off in college at the University of Florida in Gainesville, and has self-published four full-length albums and a pop single. Early influences were Beethoven and Chopin before she moved on to R.E.M., Radiohead, and Tori Amos. Over the past decade, the music of Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, John Mayer, and Daniel Johnston have helped shape her style. In 2008, Slaughter took up rugby refereeing and is currently a member of the USA Rugby National Panel. The athlete/artist is equally happy at the piano and on the field of play.
